I got to Burbank Airport at 4:30 that morning.
I had a one-way ticket, so I was considered a security risk. I got the "special" frisking, as indicated by the SSSS on my boarding pass. I was four times as special.

America West has a staggering 75% on-time rate. Instead of arriving at 1:30PM, I arrived at 6:30.
But I was there to pick up the Knight Rider car. Can't get me down.
As I headed for the baggage claim, it started to hit me.
I was really doing this. I was driving home in K.I.T.T.
But Dan got stuck in traffic bringing K.I.T.T. to the airport. And America West lost one of my bags.
I started to feel pretty dumb. Like maybe this wasn't such a good idea after all.
But Dan finally fought his way through traffic, and we sealed the deal. Dan is a pretty awesome guy, and he went way out of his way to make the sale go smoothly.
As I pulled away, I couldn't help but play the Knight Rider theme on the stereo.
Sound through the speakers activates K.I.T.T.'s voice box. It was like he was singing to me.
It was so cool!
That night I headed for the only planned stop on my trip: Fredericksburg, Texas.
At the hotel, I looked through K.I.T.T.'s manual.
It was a little over my head.
I couldn't stop looking out the window at him, and I was really looking forward to my trip.
